Pepijn de Blecourt President Director, Quaystone Music Singapore PTE LTD.
Pepijn has lived in the far east for over 25 years, and has been primarily involved in manufacturing and exporting from Asia to the EU and USA. He has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old and has always been fascinated by the variety of sounds that can be produced by guitars.
He had the privilege to work with the legendary Mike Stern in 2009 for the production of the promotional video of a travel guitar, and again recently on the newest videos for Lap axe shot in Shanghai during Mike's tour. You can catch these videos in our media room. Pepijn himself has performed extensively, however, after the birth of his 2 daughters he reduced the "gigging" to an occasional jam session. He shared the stage with Dave Weckl in Singapore in 2009 at the Crazy Elephant. At the time , he was unaware that it was Weckl who had come on stage to take over the drumming duties. Fortunately there is a still a video of that jam session for the wonderful memory archives.
Pepijn met with John Scofield and Joe Lovana after their superb show in the Esplanade in Singapore. John invited his wife and him backstage after the show so he could show John the guitar that he was producing in those days.
Attending numerous performances from Jazz to Rock to Classical, he has seen Stevie Ray Vaughan perform live several times, and has also had the good fortune of witnessing Miles Davis play with his comeback band (Stern on Guitar), as well as watching him perform with many others in the years during the come back .
After 5 years as director for the Lapstick travel guitar and bringing this instrument successfully into the market, it was time for a new challenge. Not long after Pepijn designed and built the prototypes for the new travel guitar "Lap axe", a new company was incorporated in Singapore, Quaystone Music .
The Lap axe was designed with four main improvements from the previous models in mind. Playability, portability, sound, and affordability. Those goals in improvement have been exceeded. Pepijn believes that competition in the market is good as it provides guitarists with choices based on which instrument suits him best. Consumers deserve to have different choices at different price levels. Quaystone Music has been launched with good results and new challenges and we are happy with the sales forecast.. Several of Pepijns previous customers have already received their Lap axes, and some very interesting testimonials on the improvements of the new electric travel guitar have been received and can be viewed under the "more" tab on our website.
Pepijn hopes that you will take some time to check out the videos in the media room to get a good idea of how the Lap axe looks, sounds, and performs. He would also like to thank all of our customers for their support and feedback, helping us to continue to provide you with the "ultimate travel guitar" Lap axe.
